Monolithic Insulation Joints are boltless, rigid pipeline components, factory welded and ready for installations at site. These joints provide electrical resistance between the pipeline sections and adjoining structures, thus improving the effectiveness of the Cathodic Protection System (CP Pipeline). Monolithic Insulation Joints are superior to Insulation Kit Gaskets assemblies and are suitable for underground and above ground installations. Monolithic Insulation Joints are of proven design and successfully installed worldwide as per pipeline specifications & requirements. Virtually maintenance free – fit and forget.

Mechanical Properties

  • The excellent mechanical properties are achieved by a rigid design of statically favourable form, using the thermo-setting plastic free from cold flow as insulating material.
  • The welded unit provides a safe and reliable connection even over extremely long periods of operation without risk of the secured and locked unit losing or separating.
  • The joints have undergone all types of pressure tests requirements as per media of the fluid or application of the pipeline design adhering to the international standards & testing requirements or customer special requirements at our works facilities.

Electrical Properties

  • The dimensioning and practical arrangement of the insulating sections within the overall design in addition to technical production factors, in conjunction with insulation materials of a suitable quality, result in the ideal overall electrical behavior of the insulating joints' large external insulating length, thus eliminating the possibility of spark over.
  • Very good dielectric strength, substantially greater than conventional insulating flanges.

Design and Calculation

  • Computerised calculations programme for the verifications of the mechanical strength of the joints in compliance with ASME Section VIII Div.1, App.2 applicable codes ASME B 31.3 (process piping line) ASME B31.4 (liquid transmission) & ASME 31.8 (gas transmission) or according to customer requirements.
  • Additional forces such as bending movements and tensile forces etc. must be specified by the customer.
  • Basically, all components of forces and force values occurring can be taken into consideration during design calculations.
  • All mechanical analysis will be done by A FINITE ELEMENT method verification programme and will be submitted on special request.

Applications

  • Suitable for flow media such as natural gas, crude oil, kerosene, gasoline, propane, butane, coal gas, ethylene, nitrogen, methane, LPG, CNG Slurry pipeline and drinking water etc. Media such as sour gas and oxygen require special material like Stainless steel ft Duplex.
  • Temperature ranging from - 50°C to 170°C.

Material

  • Pipe materials used are in accordance withAPI SL/ ISO3183, ASTM/ ASME or DIN standards.
  • Seamless rings made of forged quality as per ASTM A694 - F42, F46, F48, F52, F56, F60, F65, F70, F80, ASTMA105, ASTMA350- LF1, LF2, LF3, ASTMA182, ASTM depending upon customer requirements and design calculations.
  • Sealing materials are selected, as based on the flow media/ application of pipelines e.g. FKM (Viton), NBR, EPDM and other materials according to ASTM D 2000.
  • Insulating materials according toASTM D709 standard.
